Need help with my boring hair.?

I need some help, I'm a guy and know nothing about hair. =( I have used the same hairdresser for a long time now, and whilst I do not doubt her skills in the slightest, I figure I am just asking for the wrong thing.

Now, I know nothing about hair, products or styles and usually saying "just a general tidy up" gets it shorter, but not really with any thrills.

I have two problems really, one: whenever I wash my hair, once it's dried it becomes annoyingly fluffy, and makes me look stupid.

And second, which is kind of linked: my hair is always quite bulbous and would prefer it less geek looking, and more 'cool' and messed up.

What do I need to ask for, and any products I could use? Bearing in mind I don't like the gels that make your hair look wet, and really greasy. Thank you. :)

Get it cut short, get a bit of gel in there, mess it up a bit and off you go. Anything more and you deserve to be labeled a 'vain metro-sexual puff' and get laughed at in the street by children and pensioners. Just like this guy below.

Okay well I like you was never really into my hair, I just got it tidied up when needed but last year I let it grow a bit and asked to get a style. My hair is very thick and I need to get it cut about every 2 weeks.

I like you don't like the wet look in my hair so I use bedhead maipulator:

you can style it and not know there is product in it.

You could go for an inde messy look that comes just over 1 eye and is very "in" at the moment.

Try using Mousse. It dries, but you can control it before it does dry.

get it cut farily short but not too short, but water in it and scrunch and mess it up run ur fingers bakwards through it and when u get the look you want spray it into place using strong hair spray :D it works for me.

If your hair is looking greasy after you put gel in it you may be using too much. When you go into to see your stylist look through some books and if you aee any that you like show them to her.

You ought to go straighten your hair to make it non-fluffy so that you can style it whatever you want. Straight hair are easier to work with and have more opitions.

Get a long side fringe and keep your top down to the side with no spikes and the top of your head where there is a sort of bald spot, spike it a little and keep it slightly short.

Keep your side burns long and layered and your back slightly long and layered. Gel's are must BUT get those that stay and look natural.

well some people now are starting to grow there hair out long and ask for a revers perm. that is a perm that makes your hair straight. i love the long shaggy hair look on guys. you should go to a local Solon and ask them about all the hair products they can do it all for you
