I wish to have punk hair?

I am fifteen and of the opinion that scene kids are usually the most obnoxious members of society you can meet. However I have to admit a certain adoration of the 'scene' and 'punk' hairstyles. I am getting my hair cut next week and wish for some sort of idea of what to have done. At the moment I have just above shoulder-length hair with lots of choppy layers in.

I really want a shorter cut, the shortest I would be willing to have is ear length. However I want it in a 'punk' or 'scene' style. I know how to tease hair, as I frequently style my hair in that way, but now I want natural looking spikes rather then a certain poofiness.

I would like ideas please, preferably with pictures.

Also could you please refrain from saying pointless comments such as "why would you want ugly hair like that" or "poser". As I am not a poser or any of the such, and I too dislike the "scene".

As a child of the '70s and a punk of the '80s (though we prefered the term "individualist"), I have lots of experience in the "punk" hairstyles. One of the easiest (especially nowadays) is a change in color: purple, blue, red, and even green are lots of fun and you can even do stripes with multiple colors. From the time I was 15 to 18, I wore a mohawk which I absolutely adored. I don't get the impression you are interested in shaving parts of your head, but you could get a short buzz cut on the sides and spike the top up in a sort of pseudo-mohawk (leave the bangs and the back long, though). If you do cut your hair short, leave the side burn hair long. I used to do different things with these: skinny braids, banana curls, or just pointy. Lots of fun!

Before I got my mohawk, I had my hair dyed black with it all to one side and over my eye. At the time, a tail was "cool" but it might be considered "retro" now. :-)

After my 'hawk days, I dyed my hair platinum blond and spikey on top, with the underlayer (almost shoulder length) as black.

As an alternative to regular spikes, try the "liberty spike" style as an alternative which are large spikes.

Just have fun with it and do something you are comfortable with. And don't worry about what anyone else says - your hair style is for you, not for anyone else -whether you consider yourself "punk" or not!

It's a bi too difficult to advise you because we dont know what you look like. Your best bet is to have a chat with your hairdresser and take in some magazine pics with you so that she'll be able to have an idea of what you want.

Have to say though that i think shoulder length hair looks very nice.

Dont think there's anything wrong with a guy wanting to look good.

My 10 yr old wanted her hair cut too a little while ago and her hair was down to her butt...she loves keepin up with the latest hair trends as well. She got her hair cut to a little above her shoulders on the sides but shorter in the back. So short that all I or she had to do was put a little hair spike glue in it to make the back of her hair stand up...it was VERY cute! Her hair is brown and I put some blonde streaks in it and turned them blue...it was awesome...after the blue washed out she was left with the blonde streaks in it but it still looks very adorable...I hope I have explained it to u well enough for u to know what I am talkin about...and I also hope I have helped...if u need a better description feel free to email me.

First of all, scene and punk are two COMPLETELY different things.

Punk hair is not teased. Scene hair is. Pick one.

Sorry, but I really HATE it when people put Punk and "scene" in the same category. Remember, punk has history, and a purpose. It's not a beauty contest like scene.

You could get spikes put in, or try a mohawk. Either way I've heard the best way to keep the hair in that style is with Elmers glue.

I've got spiky hair its short like a boys but has long wispy bits in front of my ears. In bed during the night i lie different ways to make it stick up more. But this is a suggestion - have it short but leave long bits on top so its like cats ears. There was someone called catwoman had it like that, hers was really short though. You could have more dangly cats ears and dye them a colour.
